The Last Poets - Right On!

Today's PSA is brought to you by Milk. Milk hit the world with another megapost - this time on The Last Poets and so now I have no excuse not to bust these facts. Awhile back I noticed when listening to Right On! that the first tracks were mislabelled on the CD. Below is the proper tracklisting for tracks one through seven. 8 through 18 were straight. Track #7 was the inspiration for the Jungle Brother's Black Woman from Done by the Forces of Nature. I'm kind of partial to the last track - #18. Since knowledge is infinite then on any given day street knowledge can be > book knowledge. You just have to know what day it is.

1. David Nelson/The Last Poets - Intro
2. Felipe Luciano/The Last Poets - Jibaro/My Pretty Nigger
3. Gylan Kain/The Last Poets - Been Done Already
4. Felipe Luciano/The Last Poets - Hey Now
5. David Nelson/The Last Poets - Die Nigga!!!
6. Felipe Luciano/The Last Poets - Un Rifle/Oracion-Rifle Player
7. Gylan Kain/David Nelson/The Last Poets - Tell Me Brother/Black Woman
8. Gylan Kain/The Last Poets - James Brown
9. David Nelson/The Last Poets - Soul
10. David Nelson/The Last Poets - Today Is a Killer
11. Gylan Kain/The Last Poets - Little Willie Armstrong Jones

Definition of Sound - Love and Life- A Journey With the Chameleons 1991

This is as good a time as any to kick off thecorrector's summer. This should involve lots of sun, water, music, & referring to self in third person. This release stood out at the time but it doesn't hold up as well as I thought it would. The title doesn't help. Nevertheless,it is a great example of the direction that laid back jazzy hip-hop was going after the Native Tongues showed us all how it could be done. Track #4 is still the best use of The Hombres Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out) IMHO - correct me if I'm wrong.
